Shindengen Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is adding new products to its high-voltage surface-mount CG Package lineup, designed for automotive applications.
In recent years, as inverters in automotive and industrial equipment become smaller and more advanced, demand has grown for compact, high-voltage surface-mount diodes.
Achieving high withstand voltages requires sufficient terminal spacing, but space constraints in surface-mount packages make securing adequate insulation distance difficult.Specifically, international standards recommend a terminal spacing of 5.6 mm or more for voltages exceeding 1,000 V, and meeting this requirement necessitates innovative package design.

To address these needs, Shindengen Electric Manufacturing has added two new models to its already mass-produced high-voltage surface-mount CG Packages that can also be used in automotive applications.
The CG Package ensures insulation performance compliant with the international standard IEC 60664-1 by extending the terminal spacing to 5.6 mm.This enables it to handle high-voltage circuits exceeding 1,000 V effective voltage even in Pollution Degree 2 environments. While through-hole packages have traditionally dominated high-voltage applications, this package enables high-voltage capability via surface mount technology.
The newly added automotive-grade variants comply with AEC-Q101, meeting the high reliability and stable operation under high-temperature conditions required for automotive equipment.This contributes to the high-voltage capability and miniaturization of inverters in the automotive and industrial equipment sectors.
