Shindengen Electric Manufacturing has developed the CG Package, a surface-mount package capable of handling high voltages for consumer and automotive equipment.

In recent years, advances in inverter power supplies and automotive devices have led to demands for improved efficiency and functionality. Accordingly, high withstand voltage performance and safety are essential for semiconductor products. In applications where safety is important, such as noise suppression components, it is important to ensure sufficient distance between terminals. However, with conventional surface-mount packages, it is difficult to maintain safety under high-voltage loads while securing the distance between terminals, and the challenge has been to balance this with miniaturization.

To meet these needs, Shindengen Electric Manufacturing has developed the CG package, a surface-mount package capable of handling high voltages.
This package maintains the same external dimensions as our popular low-profile, compact surface-mount package*1 while increasing the distance between terminals to 5.6 mm. This makes it possible to handle high voltages exceeding an effective voltage of 1000 V even in Pollution Degree 2 environments*2.
The D3CG160V diode for consumer electronics will be released as the first product using the CG package. The large chip ensures a withstand voltage of 1600 V and an IFSM of 150 A, making it possible to handle high surges.This contributes to the miniaturization of high-voltage equipment and improved safety.

We will continue to expand our lineup of automotive products that use CG packages.
