Shindengen Electric Manufacturing has launched the KC5FB60HV thyristor for consumer electronics.
In recent years, “smart lighting” has become a trend in the lighting market, and there has been a move towards higher functionality, such as remote control and automation. As a result, circuits have become more complex with many switches and relays being installed. Thyristors that protect these devices from inrush currents are required to be highly reliable and able to withstand sudden potential differences that can cause false triggering (malfunctions).
In order to meet these needs, Shindengen Electric Manufacturing has released the KC5FB60HV thyristor for consumer electronics. By reviewing the internal structure, we have improved the dv/dt (critical rate of rise of off-state voltage) from approximately 20V/μs for our previous products※1 to over 10,000V/μs※2. This improves the tolerance to false triggering, and contributes to the reliability of the equipment in which they are installed.
Furthermore, the use of halogen-free resin also reduces the environmental impact.

Compared to our previous products, we have improved dv/dt (critical rate of rise of off-state voltage) by more than 500 times, contributing to the reliability of the devices.
